hello! happy thursday! today i am giving you a peak into something very personal [my journal]. this journal is not your average diary though, it's where i keep all of my blog ideas!! i love to scratch down anything and everything that comes to mind and this journal is in my purse at all times for just that reason. i decorated this journal myself [later this week i'll be doing a quick and easy decoupage tutorial!] because it was just a plain sketchbook when i bought it. [i always buy sketchbooks and use them for writing journals because i hate lines, they're too restricting for me.] please enjoy my snapshots!

a couple days ago, i got a comment on my Sophie Says facebook page that probably took someone two seconds to write, but meant the world to me. sometimes we do things for others that we don't think much about like picking up their dropped books, or complimenting their outfits. i usually tend to compliment people as soon as i see something i like. i used to hope to make people feel good with these compliments, but because i do it so often now, it may or may have not gotten to the point where i do not even consider that fact and i am just genuinely curious where a girl might have gotten her skirt or how she fixed her hair that way. i love making people feel good inside, but i guess i had forgotten how something so small coming from someone i do not know could even make my day! when a girl posted this message on my facebook timeline i was so motivated to work hard and create more beautiful things for my blog. i was at a point where i didn't think anyone read my thoughts on a daily basis, but i stand
this week, i am legitimately trying to light up my life! i have been painting my bedroom white for the past few days. the hot pink became way outdated a few years ago, and since, i have been too busy to do anything about it. last weekend i decided it was finally time for a change. white. there are so many possibilities when all of your space is white. let me know if you have any decorating suggestions, because i have yet to decide anything indefinitely!
this is my little black book ;) this sketchbook is different than any of my other ones because it is specialized. i have reserved this particular sketchbook for primarily sharpie drawings. most of the are just doodles that i did while [not] listening during class. some of these drawings however, are very special to me, and the book, as a whole, is very special to me:) all of these drawings are solely mine, however, i will not take credit for the idea of a sketchbook only for sharpie drawings. one of my dear friends and i love to do 'pass around' drawings. we will each draw one section, or a few details, and then give it back to the other. we had so much fun doing these drawings that we started a sketchbook for it. [because the sketchbook was originally mine, i maintain sole custody.] a lot of the drawings and doodles in this book we both added to, and every now and then one of us would take the book for the night and come back the next day with three more pages [or so] covered. i am not showing any of his drawings or any that we did together because i did not ask permission, so these drawings are all only mine. enjoy!
i have traveled to all corners of the earth because that's simply what my family loves to do! with all of this traveling under my belt, i can honestly say that St. Thomas is the most beautiful place i have ever seen. the water was as clear as my brand new camera lens and i had a blast shooting everything! i shot so many pictures [this is just a taste of all of them] and i shot some clips for a movie [hopefully it'll be on vimeo later today]! this vacation was a perfect relaxation and inspiration of beauty at the same time; i loved everything about it! one day of the vacation, we rented a boat and a captain to take us to norman island [where only two people live!], jost van dyke [my personal favorite], st. john, snorkeling through caves, and snorkeling through the indian boulders. this day was the highlight of my trip and a memory that i will have forever! towards the beginning of the week, we took a ferry to st. john and visited trunk bay which was named one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. we had a fantastic day here! it was so peaceful and not crowded. the sky was turquoise, the sand was softer than flour, and the water was clear teal. i have never been to a more beautiful place. i brought my goggle cam and got some great underwater pictures!
hello, all! i an back from vacation and i have so many new photographs to share with you! i decided to start with the instagram pictures because those were the cutest little snapshots i took. the vacation was amazing! i'll elaborate more later, but for now, enjoy!
of course this week my vacation is lighting up my life!! i love everything about vacations. i love the beach, i love relaxing, i love shopping, i love taking pictures, and i love spending time with the people i love the most! there are certain things in life that we should cherish; vacation being one of them. i feel so privileged every time i go on vacation because i get to take time out of my summer and go away for a week with only my family and spend precious time with them. i feel so lucky that i have a family that i can share times like these with and that my father is kind enough to treat us to a getaway every once in a while. you can probably tell that i have beach fever from all of these pictures! before i left i was pinning pictures of the beach like mad!! i was so excited and now i am having a fantastic time! [ sorry the quality of all of these photographs is not of my usual caliber, i downloaded all of them from pinterest. i absolutely LOVE this one of the female diver. it makes me wish that i had a camera that could go this deep and some water this clear.... i feel so inspired! i do not own the rights to any of these photographs. i downloaded all of them from pinterest.
Quickshot While I was thrifting the other day with matt, we came across this camera in the back of the store for only $2.92! He was nice enough to buy me the camera even though he isn't the biggest supporter of my photography. I have shot a whole role of film with it so far, but I have yet to get it developed, so this camera is truly a mystery until then. I promise to share my photographs once I do get a chance to develop them! Argus c3
This was my grandmother's camera from the 1960's. She was delighted to give it to me last year because she knew I would use it well and I do! I absolutely love this little beauty. In the research I did, I found out that it is, to this day, the number one ranked most selling camera. This little beaut came out and was one of the first cameras that was made affordable to the general public so, naturally, everyone had one. This camera was also nicknamed 'the brick' both because of it's size and weight. I'm not kidding, this thing is a brick. It is annoying to lug around, but I sure to get some beautiful shots out of this one because it is still in full-working condition! After all these years!! this is a special edition of the camera extravaganza because these are both cameras that are perfect for taking goofy pictures of your friends. there is fun written all over both of these cameras and they both love smiles and sunshine! Harikin super wide I bought this camera from the four corners store ( link ) and I must say this is my favorite toy camera! This little bug absolutely loves the sunshine and always gets compliments when I carry it with me. It is such a cute little camera [ and, as you can see very scratched ] and I always just throw it in my purse wherever I go because it is so tiny and light, but very promising as far as picture turn-out quality goes. Action sampler cam
I purchased this camera at a z-gallery in the toy section on sale for $4. This camera is so small and cute. It takes four pictures in a rapid succession so you can capture action shots and have them all displayed together. Sometimes, by a happy mistake, I will roll my film wrong and my picture will end up being displayed split. I actually like when this happens because it gives the pictures more of a personality and a taste of everything that was going on while I was taking pictures. |
