On Sundays, I generally do not have a large load of homework or projects because I tend to do my work ahead of time. Since I'll have a little bit of free time to myself, I like to curl up in bed with my laptop, to-do lists, and a cup of hot tea.
This is what a Sunday night really looks like.

Glitter is my favorite color.
I've always had a knack for glittery things. Anything shiny, anything pink, and anything that sparkles. I am attracted to aesthetically pleasing objects and always have been. I believe this is a trait that I got from my mother because, being the professional photographer that she is, her artistic gene was been passed down to me. I admire my mom because she can take anything and make it beautiful. It does not matter if she is focusing on the small details of her photographs or the whole picture. She finds the beauty and stretches and frames it until it's all you see. I try to do this everyday and my I have found that my favorite subject to focus on are simple, eye-catching, bright-colored, items arranged in an organized and meticulously framed way--generally detailed shots.
Luckily, our event was at the club in the hotel called Blvd 44. We ran upstairs, changed into our formal attire, and then ran back downstairs to meet up with all of our friends without missing a beat!
I was raised to be a traveller. I don't know what it is about me but no matter where I currently reside, I'd rather be away. This past weekend I wanted to travel home for a mini second half of second semester recovery period, but didn't end up getting a chance to. I love downtime, but I love it most when I'm doing something with that extra time, like traveling. Growing up, my parents' favorite thing to do was pack our whole family into a car and just sneak away anywhere for the weekend. We went all over the place. And in the summers, we still take a big vacation every year. For instance, this May, we are taking our passports and digital cameras on a flight across the Atlantic all the way to Amsterdam!
It's still snowing...but I have officially given in and made my switch back to iced coffee.
Until next time, Syracuse Winter ~~~~ We all have those little memories that make holidays more special, and Easter baskets are one of mine. When I was little, my mom would spend weeks trying to put together the perfect assortment of goodies for my sisters and me. My dad would scheme up these very complicated (at the time) scavenger hunts and cute riddles to lead our way. All Easter morning we would enjoy this tradition, and now it has just become a sweet memory that I hope to share with my children one day.
Last week, Bendel's hosted one of their iconic Private Sales for members only. All this means is that you have to be on their email list and then you get access to these awesome sales, the last one being 60% off! There were so many great deals, and I think I snagged some pretty chic pieces, take a look:
Like my purchases? Look out for their appearances on my Instagram and Twitter @sophiahoeke ~~~~
Have you ever noticed that a candle never smells better than it does the first time you light it? Being the candle connoisseur that I am, I have noticed this of course, and thoroughly believe it's the main reason behind my addiction. It's like getting a brand new mascara -- looks pretty awesome that day, right?
Well, long story short, I bought a few new things during last week's Henri Bendel Private Sale that was held for members only, including this Chai scented candle! I had been eyeing this one since Valentine's when it was last on promotion, and finally made myself make the purchase. How happy am I?? This candle is my new favorite! I studied by it all evening because although it's a soothing scent, it has energizing tones. The website's description of the candle is "bergamot and blood orange give way to a spicy nutmeg, cardamon, clove, and cinnamon concoction that will be the envy of your usual afternoon ritual." The other candles featured in this photograph are: Tocca 'Colette' Candelina Illume Espresso Cacao Candle Tin 'Japonica - Bella Sucre' Large Embossed Jar Candle |
