Long story short, my brushes arrived in the mail a few weeks later (😉), all gift wrapped and with a handwritten note from Stephanie, herself! (So cute!)
[She's the creator of the brand and have you seen this girl?!? She's absolutely stunning. I highly recommend following her on Instagram for your daily dose of pink.]
Back to the brushes. They are made of synthetic hair so they are completely cruelty-free (score!), and I read that synthetic bristles absorb less product, saving you money (double score!). They are a good weight and the bristles have this dreamy ombré that highlights pink where your powder will cover, Sold already? (I was!) Keep reading though, because I'm about to get into the review, and trust me, these brushes make you look even prettier than they are themselves!
First thing's first: foundation. This foundation brush is a lot larger than the bareMinerals one I'm used to, which intimidated me at first. What I found was that I was actually able to cover a bigger space with a more concentrated application, I even skipped my concealer! Side note, in the "How To Use" description on the website, it advises you to use a liquid foundation. I'm a powder foundation girl, I always have been. I used it with my bareMinerals loose powder foundation and it worked just fine.
Next, the powder brush. I always like a big fluffy brush to apply more foundation powder all over my face to even out the tone. Then, I use my Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer with the same fluffy brush all over my face for a nice natural tan look (since my foundation is a few shades lighter than my skin in the summer). After, I go back in to contour the same shade under my cheekbones with a blush brush. I like doing this because using the same product, just applying in different techniques, ensures that you whole look will blend well and look natural.
Okay, so I already told you my next step, contouring with the blusher brush. I had been using the bareMinerals Flawless Application Face Brush and I have to say that the Slmissglam blusher brush is way different (in a good way!). This brush applies your powder very strongly at first, but blends it so nicely with small circular motions of your wrist. I then dip the brush into my blush and swipe it along my cheekbones. If you have a rounder face than mine, go ahead and circle your blush into the apples of your cheeks.
Now for my favorite part: the eyeshadow brush! THIS BRUSH IS EVERYTHING. If you are only going to buy one brush (although I'm highly recommending the whole set), buy this one! Admittedly, I have been searching for a good eyeshadow brush for awhile, and this. is. it. This brush does does everything! From blending shades, to highlighting my brow bone, to working deeper shades into my corners and creases, this brush does it all! At first, I was curious why the set only came with one eyeshadow brush, but then I finished both eyes without ever needing an additional tool! My eyes are by far my new favorite part of my makeup routine. Thank you SLMissGlam.
I read somewhere that in order to make your lipstick last longer, you should apply it (or at the very least, spread it out) with a lip brush. I have never tried this technique before, but I do wear lipstick, stain, or gloss everyday, so I was willing to give it a try. I must say that this lip brush does an amazing job of blending my lipstick onto my lips to make it look as if they are naturally that pink!
I hope you loved this product review as much as I love the products themselves! I would love to continue doing more of these, so please don't hesitate to ask me to try out a product. Xoxo
