It's that time of year again! Woohoo! I don't think I have ever heard anyone complain about going back to college. Back to school? Yeah, maybe. But back to college? Never. So, to get you in the swing of things again, I've paired together a few lipstick and nail polish combos that will be sure to crown you the most put together of all your friends at all times, and they will be asking, "Why do you always look so #flawless?" Syllabus Week Syllabus Week, otherwise knows as Sylly Week, is the most fun week of the entire school year. You get to see your friends again, the weather is still nice so you can party outside, you get to decorate your new dorm/apartment, and there are many, many running and jumping hugs. You want colors that will both compliment your recently refreshed tan and show that you aren't ready to let go of the good summer vibes quite yet. I chose a vibrant deep coral, #04 Corail Colisee of YSL La Laque Couture, for the nails, and for the lips, I went with #205 Pink Rain of YSL Glossy Stain. One of my besties, Olivia, has this product and when I asked for her review she responded, "It's a little sticky but the color is great! If you put a clear gloss over it it's even better!" I went with a lipgloss rather than a lipstick for this occasion because throughout this week, you will be being pulled in a million different directions and you will want something you can easily just glide on and go. To Class This lipstick is Chanel Rouge Coco in #444 Gabrielle, and I actually mentioned in this post that I bought it specifically for this reason: to wear to class in the fall. It's a deep enough red to dress up your look, but it isn't so bright that it looks like you're trying too hard. In order to keep the look classy and seasonal, I am planning on pairing the lip color with a warm taupe like this one, the Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in #505 Particulière. |
At Syracuse, we take bar hopping pretty seriously haha. Girls will typically wear [black] tight dresses, skirts, backless blouses, black distressed skinnies, anything glittery, and ALWAYS heels. I don't think I've ever seen a girls wear flats out on a bar night haha. With all of these fancy, dark-colored clothes, I really love dark lips to make my makeup stand out, too. This shimmery deep plum, the Chanel Rouge Allure in #116 Envoûtante, is the perfect sultry shade to rock with your Jeffrey Campbells. For a pop of color, I would add the YSL La Laque Couture in #14 Violine Surrealiste. I love this shade because it adds just enough pizazz to make you look party-ready, but is still warm and seasonal so that during the school week it won't look like the glitter polish chipping off your nails from that rager two weeks ago...
To Your Favorite Fraternity
Let's be honest here, as much as sorority girls say they "don't have a favorite fraternity" or they "love all of the houses and will have fun at any of them" we all still have that one house where we'll go to hang out on a Wednesday afternoon or will treck through the snow to at 1:30 in the morning. And when you're at said fraternity, you know you always feel a little bit territorial and want to make sure you stand out above all other girls (admit it). In order to do this, I have selected the holy grail of lip/nail combinations. Yes, people, I'm talking fuchsia on fuchsia. YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in #07 Pink In Devotion (even the name is fitting) and Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in #519 Rose Exubérant make the perfect combo that will score you that sweetheart spot in no time.
Midterms Week
During midterms week you won't have time to be scrolling back through my blog, so you better write this one down now 😉. I selected a light grey nail color because I am a very easily distracted person, and when I'm trying to focus, chipping nail color extremely bothers me. YSL La Laque Coture in #23 Gris Deco is the perfect studying shade because the bright color won't distract you and when (if) it chips, you won't notice. I would pair it with YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in #13 Pink in Paris just because a clean pink always make me feel better and put together even when my brain is completely scattered. Look good, feel good, am I right? And to all my fellow college gals out there, I'm sure you know what stress feels like, haha, trust me, a coat of lipstick helps.
I hope everyone enjoyed this post! Xoxo
